This is a distinct product from a standard fit to work certificate for office or general employment. The entertainment sector has specific documentation norms shaped by production insurance requirements, agent obligations, and casting contracts. Who Typically Requires This Certificate?
Actors: film, TV, theatre
Production companies and studios often require proof of fitness before or during a production, particularly for physically demanding roles, international shoots, or productions where cast insurance is a contractual requirement.
Models and commercial performers
Modelling agencies and commercial clients may require a fitness certificate as part of their standard engagement process, particularly for catalogue work, overseas assignments, or contracts with physical requirements.
Presenters, dancers, and creatives
Broadcast presenters, dancers, choreographers, and other performance professionals may face equivalent requirements from production companies or agencies managing their engagements.
Child performers: licensed productions
Child Performance Licences for TV, film, and stage work typically require a GP letter confirming the child is medically fit to work. A GP or medical certificate is not automatically required. Under the Children (Performances and Activities) (England) Regulations 2014, a local authority may request that a child be medically examined where it judges the information provided insufficient. Child Performer Licences: What Parents Need to Know
Child Performance Licences and GP letters
Under the Children (Performances and Activities) (England) Regulations 2014, local authorities issuing Child Performance Licences for TV, film, and stage work typically require a GP letter stating that the child is medically fit to work in the relevant context.
MedicalCert can provide a GP fitness letter for child performers based on parent-submitted health information. The assessment is based on general health status as described in the consultation, it is not a specialist paediatric assessment or a school absence justification.
For modelling by children (as distinct from licensed stage or screen performance), a parental letter is typically accepted rather than a GP letter. Check the specific requirements of your local authority or production company before ordering.
Important: If your child has any significant health conditions, consult your own GP as well, a remote private assessment is not a substitute for their primary care relationship.
How to Get Your Actor and Model Fit to Work Certificate
Complete the online questionnaire
Provide your basic health information, current health status, any ongoing conditions, medications, and the context for which fitness is being confirmed. Mention your professional role (actor, model, presenter, child performer) and the specific request from your agency or production company if known.
Upload a short health confirmation video
A brief 30-second video confirming you are currently in good health. Where the information available is not sufficient to support a fitness assessment, the doctor will decline and you will be refunded. This is not a substitute for an in-person examination. For child performers, a parent completing the questionnaire and providing a video of the child may submit on the child’s behalf.
GMC-registered doctor reviews your case
One of our experienced GPs reviews your submission the same day. The doctor assesses your current health status and, where clinically appropriate, issues your fitness certificate. The doctor may contact you for additional information.
Receive your certificate by 9AM
Your signed PDF certificate is delivered to your inbox same day or by 9AM next morning, ready to forward to your agency, production company, or casting department. Valid for 90 days from issue. A full refund is provided if a certificate cannot be issued.
